COURSE OVERVIEW –

The aim of the postgraduate program in nursing is to make graduates to adopt accountabilities as nurse specialists, consultants, educators, administrators in a wide variety of professional settings

OBJECTIVES

On Completion of the two year M.Sc Nursing programme, the graduate will be able to:-

  • Promote empirical and evidence-based learning for candidates focused on health and wellness.
  • To prepare postgraduates with a sound educational programme which is advanced and academically thought-provoking in nursing which empower them to function as competent members of the health team
  • Prepare nurses who can work skilfully in rural and urban settings, to face and encounter the rising global health care arena
  • Use the impressions, concepts and philosophies of nursing science
  • Exhibit advance capability in practice of nursing
  • Establish leadership qualities and function effectively
  • Make apparent skill in directing nursing research, understanding and using the conclusions from health related research.

Eligibility

ELIGIBILITY

  • The minimum education requirements shall be B.Sc. Nursing/Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing with minimum of 55% aggregate marks.
  • The applicant should have undergone in B.Sc. Nursing / B.Sc. Hons. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing in an institute which is recognized by Indian Nursing Council.
  • The applicant should be a registered Nurse with State Nursing Registration Council.
  • Minimum one year of work experience after Basic B.Sc. Nursing/ Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing
  • Applicant shall be medically fit

Required Documents

Documents required while submitting application forms for M.Sc. Nursing Programs:

Applicants are required to attach following documents with the application form:

  • Mark sheet of Class X and XII.
  • Birth certificate or School leaving certificate
  • ID proof (passport/ration card/ Aadhar card )
  • Domicile certificate
  • BSc Nursing Registration
  • Experience certificate ( minimum 1 year )

Applicants are supposed to carry original documents along with the photocopies while submitting the application forms for authentication. All documents should be attested by the gazette officer or any other authorized officials. They should also carry 3 passport size photographs.

Regulations for examination:

Eligibility for appearing for the examination:

  • 75% of the attendance ( theory and practical)
  • 100% of attendance for practical before the award of degree

Classification of results:

  • 50% pass in each of the theory and practical separately.
  • 50-59% Second division
  • 60-74% first division
  • 75% and above is distinction
  • For announcing the rank cumulative of 2 years marks to be reflected.
  • If the applicant fails in any practical or theory paper he/she has to reappear for both the papers (theory and practical)
  • Maximum three (3) attempts per subject) inclusive of first attempt.
  • The maximum period to complete the course successfully should not go beyond 4 years
  • Applicant, who fails in any subject, shall be allowed to continue the studies into the second year. Though the applicant shall not be permissible to appear for the Second year examination till such time that he/she passes all subjects of the first year M.Sc nursing examination

Practical

  • 4 hours of practical examination per student.
  • The examination will be held in clinical area only for clinical specialities
  • M.Sc nursing. Dissertation Evaluation of the dissertation will be done by the examiner prior to viva

Duration: Viva-voce -minimum 30 minutes per student
